My Story

Jack Scherbauer brings extensive experience and deep dedication to firearms training and safety. With over 65 completed courses in defensive firearms instruction, Jack has cultivated a broad and practical skill set that spans multiple disciplines. He is currently active in Hojutsu-Ryu, the martial art of shooting, where he continues to refine both technical precision and tactical awareness.

Jack has had the privilege of training under some of the most respected names in the firearms community, including Dave Spaulding, “Super” Dave Harrington, James Yeager, Massad Ayoob, John Farnham, Jeff Hall, Jeff Pedro, Kyle Yount, and Bill Martin. This diverse and high-level instruction has shaped Jack’s comprehensive approach to teaching, blending tactical effectiveness with real-world application.

He holds NRA certifications in Rifle, Pistol and as a Range Safety Officer, reinforcing his commitment to responsible firearm handling and safety on the range. Jack’s instruction emphasizes situational awareness, practical skill development, and building confidence for shooters at all levels.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack is actively involved in hunting upland game, deer, and waterfowl, and recreationally enjoys skeet shooting and sporting clays. His broad exposure to both defensive and sporting firearms adds depth and adaptability to his teaching style.
