Zendira “The Invisible Holster”

Zendira “The Invisible Holster”: Review by Marie Yount

Back in April of 2023, I was fortunate to be able to get a Friday Concealed Carry Bag from the owner of Zendira at the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. I wanted to take a moment and write a short review of how I feel about this carry bag that, to the untrained eye, is nothing more than a trendy looking cross body purse.

Zendira is a company out of Austin, Texas created to help women carry and feel comfortable while carrying. This company has a bag for every day of the week. I currently have been carrying the Friday bag which is a cross-body bag. The leather material makes it durable and easy to clean. This bag has a cut-resistant strap. One that has a metal wire running through the length of it to make cut and go theft nearly impossible. The Friday has strong magnets securing the handgun compartment. A clip that is inside of the handgun compartment allows one to clip a holster to it for added safety and security. Lastly, there are two pockets to store your phone, keys, wallet, etc. in. I carry a knife and two spare magazines in the small pocket that sticks to the magnets keeping the items in their proper place. In the large pocket, I put my wallet, keys, a pen, and lip-gloss. Us women got to look good after all.

I carry my Friday Bag every day. It is comfortable enough that I can drive, go to the bathroom, and do everyday activities with it on me. The small pocket in the front does not get noticed so I can keep everything there without any questions coming my way. It has passed numerous “security checks” without any curiosity. The handgun compartment and bag conform to your body and pistol so no one can tell you are carrying a handgun. This also aids with comfort. I use a Sharktac trigger guard holster that covers my handgun's trigger guard. It clips to my bag via a connected piece of 550 paracord allowing smooth presentation and holstering of the handgun. I love that it is clipped to my bag so I do not lose my holster when I must pull my handgun out. The Sharktac holster eliminates all unnecessary bulk, so my Bowie Tactical Concepts Glock 43 fits inside the bag better.

To use the Friday properly, here are the steps I use to present my pistol in a discrete and fast manner:

1. Position the Zendira in the center of your body. Do this by pulling it towards your midline (stomach) and placing your non-dominant hand at the bottom of the strap at the top of the bag so that you have complete control of it.

2. Insert your dominant hand into the holster compartment of the bag and acquire a one hand master grip on the handgun. Steps one and two can be done discreetly. It looks like you are possibly searching the bag for keys, phone etc.

3. With your non-dominant hand still on the bottom of the strap near the top of the bag, pull the bag away from the holster. At the same time with your dominant hand, move the handgun into the rotate step of the draw stroke. This will expose the handgun and clear it from the bag.

4. Move the non- dominant hand to ensure the bag is out of your way and you will have arrived at the decision point. Do I have enough space between my attacker that I can safely extend the handgun without a disarm attempt from the attacker? If no, shoot from the retention position. If yes, move to Step 5.

5. After your non-dominant hand comes off the strap, it needs to meet the dominant hand and complete the join step. This is where you get a good, two-handed master grip before extending the handgun out.

6. Drive the handgun quickly into your eye/target or eye/threat line and acquire your sights or dot ensuring proper alignment or on the target or threat.

Putting the handgun away after you have checked your environment and determined you no longer need it is also important and has specific safety concerns. When this is necessary, follow these steps:

1. Remove your non-dominant hand from the handgun while keeping control of the handgun in your dominant hand. Keep the muzzle pointed away from you when doing this.

2. Grab the strap in the same way you did when presenting the handgun with your non- dominant hand and bring the bag in front of you. This is important so that when you return the handgun to the holster compartment you will avoid muzzling your hand.

3. If you have the Sharktac Trigger Guard Holster, replace the handgun into it by moving it from behind and underneath the pistol. Snap it into place around the trigger guard. If you elect for a holster attached via Velcro to the inside of the bag, place the handgun into the holster in accordance with the next step.

4. With your non-dominant hand, ensure the holster compartment is open from the top while inserting the muzzle into the compartment from the bottom of the opening. Care to not muzzle your hand during this step is critical.

5. Once the handgun is properly back in the handgun compartment (holstered), remove your dominant hand from the handgun and holster compartment and place the bag where you find it most comfortable to wear while providing quick access to your handgun.

Overall, I recommend buying this bag for off-body or FlexCCarry as Vicki Farnam calls it. I love carrying it every day. I can safely and comfortably carry all day, while never letting it out of my control. This cross-body bag allows me to keep it and its contents close to my body so I do not worry about it being in the way of doing daily tasks. I can keep the Friday bag on me and do not ever need to take it off, which we never recommend you do in public for obvious safety and security concerns. Remember there is always a handgun in the bag that you have to keep away from unauthorized and untrained individuals. I have tried to carry other bags and purses but they were just too bulky and difficult to present from. I struggled with carrying on my body in a holster because of the tight clothes I like to wear. On body concealed carry was never comfortable for me. I told my husband I would carry my pistol when I found a comfortable option. The Friday was just what I needed: comfortable, discreet, easy to draw from and place back into the holster compartment when needed. Go to Zendira’s website where you can learn more about the brand, their products and make a purchase you will never regret.

To learn how to present your handgun from your chosen off body or FlexCCarry method, we have a class for that. Pay to get on our waitlist, then we will set a date for it that matches everyone’s schedule. See you at Off Body Carry.

Stay dangerous and remember, your man is not a holster.
